Smithco Leather was born in 2019, out of a lifelong passion for leatherwork, first sparked during my school years. The Covid-19 pandemic lockdown became an unexpected opportunity—a time to rediscover not just craftsmanship, but a sense of adventure, creativity, and self-expression. It was during this period of experimentation and growth that I realized others connected with what I created.

At Smithco Leather, we believe in embracing life beyond the daily grind—stepping out of the ordinary and confidently expressing who you are. Every product we make is more than just an accessory; it’s a statement of individuality and an invitation to explore the world with authenticity.

Why are we different? All of our products are handmade in Cape Town, from our home-based workshop, combining function, durability, and an adventurous aesthetic.
